finally starting to dig deeper into this...I've got a few transactions hitting the orion web site and poking around.
I'll use one step in particular called "other" for reference.
just wondering how to interpret gaps...

This one is 25 seconds for this step (not all shown, just bulk of "gaps") and most attributable to the mysterious gaps...
This one is about 11 seconds and it seems to me the actual "work" parts are reasonable, but the "gaps" are what are changing and causing all of the delays.
