WARNING level error from End User monitor

Can anyone tell me how to proceed with this error?  Should we even be concerned since it is only a WARNING level error?

[SolarWinds.SEUM.Agent.Worker.exe][UI Thread] WARN  SolarWinds.SEUM.Browser.SEUMWebBrowser - Unable to delete cache directory C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.IE5. We are running a script against an application that is rather sensitive to anything that might be cached...which is where my concern comes from.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hello,

this message means that WPM was not able to delete some files in "Temporary Internet Files" because those files were still locked by browser in WPM. It's usually not causing any issue and those files will be deleted later once their lock is released. If you don't see any issues in your transactions I would not care about these.

WPM Browser Close after Transaction Run

I have a question. We are running into some issues where some of the websites we are monitoring are giving us a 'Too Many Open Sessions' error. At the end of the transaction we logout to complete the recording, but if the browser doesn't close or if the cache isn't cleared the session remains tracked. Do this too many times with the same account and suddenly the system shows that there are too many sessions open. Especially if running multiple transactions from multiple players. So, is there a way (or does it currently) to clear the browser cache or make sure the equivalent of a browser close occurs at the end of every transaction?  Any help is appreciated.

Hello Len,

WPM is trying to clear cache after every playback and it also closes browser inside but the process itself still runs. It looks that in your case some process-specific data are still kept between sessions and cause the issues. By default each worker process executes up to 10 transactions and then it's terminated and new process is started. In your case it would help to recycle process after every playback. This can be done by simple change in configuration file.

  1. Go to machine with WPM player
  2. Stop "SolarWinds SEUM Playback Player" service
  3. Go to "c:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SEUM\Player"
  4. Copy "SolarWinds.SEUM.Agent.Service.exe.config" to some backup location
  5. Open original "SolarWinds.SEUM.Agent.Service.exe.config"
  6. In "<agentConfiguration .../>" find 'maxPlaybacksPerWorker="10"' and change "10" to "1". If <agentConfiguration .../> does not contain this property, add it.
  7. Save changes.
  8. Start "SolarWinds SEUM Playback Player" service

Now player will terminate worker process after each transaction and starts new one. That should solve your issue.

Now that SEUM (WPM) v2.1 has been released, is there any progress or movement toward support ActiveX? This is still a real issue for my Clients when it comes to monitoring this level of Web enabled Applications. Please let us know if this is something that is being looked at or not, so Clients can make the right decision on purchasing or moving away from WPM.

Report Writer Quarter Display

Anyone know how to modify the Quarter display in the Report Writer so it includes the year?   Right now, when I generate a report of my WPM availability results for the last 4 quarters,  the "SummaryQuarter" field just says 1-4.  We would prefer it if it included the year also,  for example,  2013-4.

I tried using the built in help but no matter what link I click on I get a page does not exist error, for example:  http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/en/flarehelp/orionplatform/default.htm#OrionCoreAdministratorGuide/Creating Reports in the Web.htm

Thanks

why we always have gaps in graphs of WPM

WPM users,

Have you ever noticed the gaps in the WPM transaction stat graphs? I have the impression that every often the transaction goes into "not played yet" status and thus no data are collected by server. this leaves gaps in the graphs.

I have found these gaps even in Solarwinds demo platform, even for Gmail login.

http://oriondemo.solarwinds.com/Orion/SEUM/TransactionDetails.aspx?NetObject=T:38

Do you have any ideaCapture.JPG why is that?

Baseline is data for that period (where you see gaps) is not present on the DB, it could be transaction timed out or transaction never completed or even though transaction was successfully WPM failed to write it to the DB etc etc

Raise a case with Solarwinds support and send them the diag , you might get to the root cause.

Some playback might be delayed. have you tried increasing sample interval? a) go to Edit resource b) set sample interval to a higher value.

Hi,

I'm ready to do whatever adjustment that is necessary.

But does the fact that even Solarwinds' official demo platform is not 100% reliable concern you?

I would expect their own architecture follows all their best pratice etc, but yet the system still loses data.

Hi there,

Do you happen to know if there is a solution for those of us that perform web transactions against intranet sites, with high security and AD authentication, and have no choice but to use domain users?

Hi,

Has this issue been resolved in the latest WPM?

Transaction Timing Difference with WPM

$

Greetings,

I am new to WPM and currently running a POC for transaction monitoring. I notice there is a big difference in timings with regards to playing the recording manually and having the WPM server execute it. Example: Running the recording manually on a PC player yields ~31 seconds and when WPM triggers it, 162 Seconds. Would anyone know the reason for the difference? Also does SEUM play all the recordings at once?

Thanks in Advance.

Hi Deltona,

I do have instances of this running which use Domain accounts & on these locations but I'm not seeing the same issues. Fingers crossed I won't...

I'd suggest that, if you are seeing something similar (with Domain accounts), that you get a support ticket on the go and/or try the above remedial actions as well ? In my case, I think some update or other process caused a knock on effect (creating the multiple user account folders which weren't just related to WPM it seems) & recreating the accounts specific to WPM cleared whatever the root cause was..

Hope this helps?

Daniel

Not sure but I will let you know next week.  I'm upgrading to the latest version this Saturday night.

Depending on what your recording is doing... your difference may be in the proxy settings. So playing manually with your login is probably using a different proxy setting than when WPM runs it using the default user proxy setting. We have a ticket open with Solar Winds that is still in progress. I can update the list when we know more about why different profiles cause a difference in performance. The player can only play one thing at a time in series when you only have one user setup in the Agent Service Config file. Configuring more than one agent will allow you to run more than one transaction at a time. Hope this helps.

We only use domain accounts... and have not seen any of this kind of issue on our intranet sites. We do see differences in performance between allowing WPM to create the domain user profile versus logging into the client with the domain account before running WPM. We are still sorting out the differences in behavior and performance. Still pending the outcome of our open ticket with SW.

Are you talking about playing the recording from the same POC manually via the recorder or playing the recording from the POC on your PC via the recorder?  If it's playing it on your PC, you're not following the same path of network traffic as the POC.
